03.19.04 - Do I ever cross your mind, anytime? Do you ever wake up reaching out for me...

:: Monday, June 21, 2004 ::
I leave for Moncton in two weeks and am so unprepared. I need to make lists. I'm a fan of the list, and I'm also a fan of not using them after I've made them. But anyway, I also need to make plans for Canada Day, so for anyone who's reading this right now, you'll save me the evite/email by saying that you'll come to my 2nd annual shindig on July 1st, whatever time you want, until around, well, whatever time you want - hopefully it will be late, I don't like evenings to end early.

I can barely keep my eyes open and here I am blogging for all of you (like, 3) friendlies who rely on me to, well, provide you with useless and banal information for which you probably do not care for. Wait, that makes no sense. But really, who makes a whole ton of sense at the hour of *looking at clock* 12:21 AM?

So here is my deep thought of the day: I'm big on self-reflection, which may sometimes translate into self-absorption. Frankly, I don't believe that anyone is not self-absorbed in one way or another...but that's a whole other issue for a whole other time. Today I was reflecting upon...I'm not even sure how to put it into words. I guess it was the issue of art imitating life versus life imitating art. My theory, whatever it may be worth, is that the first piece of art, ever, imitated life, but now, in a typical post-modern fashion (I guess, I'm not completely sure of the definition of post-modern art), life imitates art imitating life to the point where life itself becomes a piece of art, and both become practically indistinguishable. Perhaps, life strives to be art; Where else would the happy ending come from, especially when you hardly ever see that happy ending anymore. Divorce, heartbreak, 80 year old virgins with 80 cats.

But maybe that 80 year old virgin could die happy with those 80 cats, and maybe heartbreak just serves as a preparation for worse things to come...maybe the happy ending is changing.
